Kerrville-Schreiner Park is a 517-acre recreation area and camping park rising from the banks of the Guadalupe River to the deer and wildlife filled hills just a short distance from the center of the city of Kerrville on State Highway 173 just east of Loop 534. It began as a city park built by the CCC in the 1930s and was then deeded to the State of Texas and became one of the Texas State Parks until February 13, 2004, when it was transferred back to the City of Kerrville under the authority of Texas House Bill 2108. Improvements include: addition of sewer connections to both RV camping loops on the river side of the park, 23 new mini-cabins, shoreline stabilization and water sports area development, and renovation of all restrooms and group facilities. An additional ADA restroom with flush toilets and hot showers was added for Spring Break and Easter 2008.
Facilities include restrooms with hot showers; 25 day use picnic sites; 120 campsites for all types of equipment from bicycle, motorcycle, or car camping to super-sized motor homes and trailers. Campsites range from general sites with no hookups to pull-through sites with water, 30/50 amp electrical hookups, and sewer connections. All campsites also include a picnic table and campfire pit with cooking grill. We offer a large air conditioned Group Recreation Hall suitable for either day or overnight use, Group Dining Hall for daytime or overnight use, and Day Use only Group Picnic Areas. In addition to a large family type park cabin with satellite TV, the park has 23 mini-cabins which have air conditioners, heaters, lights, table and chairs, and two sets of bunk beds with twin mattresses. The larger family style cabin is furnished with a queen bed, two sets of twin size bunk beds, private bathroom with shower, small kitchenette with compact refrigerator and microwave, satellite TV, and it is air-conditioned and heated. All buildings are smoke free and pets are not permitted.
